If you use to work with Corel® and / or / Adobe PhotoShop® graphic softwares:
it's necessary to convert into packed PCX mode; Corel doesn't recognize the not-packed PCX.
With Adobe PhotoShop, the not-packed PCX could even cause a lock-up...
To get this mode: tool-bar, "Options" button "Write"
Tick the box: "Packbits PCX files".
XnView displays any PCX...

To get images which work as reactive pictures…
To remind: these pictures allow you to make several links on the same picture; you can use them advantageously instead tables or HTML pages having frames...
If you convert your own *.BMP pictures into *.GIF or *.PNG, these *.BMP files must be absolutely saved as "256-color BMP" at least; otherwise the obtained *.GIF / *.PNG will not work as reactive pictures! They work as usual pictures only.
Converting into *.GIF, choose "256-color" type in the last dialogue box ,
Any picture file to use as reactive picture must contain really 16 colors, even if they are saved as an upper color number type!
"Cartoon" GIF files work as reactive pictures...
*.BMPs work too directly (use small pictures only, because they are large-size...),
Please, don't forget that some Web browsers do not support *.PNG!
For instance: Netscape Navigator® up to the 4.7 version and MS-IE®~; 5.0 16-bit...
